Overview
VISTO Performing Arts Camp offers immersive, week-long camp experiences where children and youth engage in singing, dancing, acting, community, and faith-based learning. The Camp Manager plays a critical leadership role in shaping and supporting this experience from start to finish.
The Camp Manager will be passionate about their faith, committed to serving others, and eager to support both campers and staff as they grow. This role exists to care for the people and the flow of camp — ensuring that staff feel supported, campers feel safe and known, and daily operations run smoothly and with excellence.
Through comprehensive VISTO training, the Camp Manager will gain a deep understanding of camp culture, curriculum, safety expectations, and leadership rhythms. Working closely with camp leadership, this role oversees staff teams, logistics, transitions, and daily problem-solving, while modeling professionalism, encouragement, and calm leadership in a fast-paced environment.
The Camp Manager provides guidance and support to Camp Counsellors, Leaders-in-Training, and instructors, helping them thrive in their roles and stay focused on building meaningful relationships with campers ages 5–14. This includes offering direction, stepping in to support camper needs, and ensuring that camp values, behaviour expectations, and safety protocols are consistently upheld.
This position requires strong leadership skills, emotional awareness, and the ability to anticipate needs and respond with care. The Camp Manager must be comfortable making decisions, supporting difficult moments, and adapting plans as needed — all while maintaining a positive, team-focused spirit.
Active presence throughout the camp day is essential. The Camp Manager participates in daily rhythms, supports rehearsals and activities as needed, and helps ensure that each camper’s experience is engaging, safe, and encouraging. This role requires maturity, stamina, flexibility, and a heart for mentorship and service.
Serving as a Camp Manager at VISTO is a meaningful leadership opportunity for individuals who desire to grow in faith, leadership, and responsibility while helping create an environment where young people and their leaders can discover confidence, belonging, and purpose.
Why this Role Matters
The Camp Manager plays a vital role in shaping the heart and health of VISTO Performing Arts Camp. While campers experience singing, dancing, acting, and friendship, much of what makes those moments possible happens behind the scenes through steady leadership, thoughtful planning, and intentional care.
This role ensures that camp runs smoothly and people are supported — so counsellors can focus on relationships, creativity, and mentoring, and campers can feel safe, known, and encouraged to be fully themselves.
The Camp Manager helps protect the culture of VISTO by modeling faith, humility, and service. Through calm leadership and clear decision-making, this role brings stability to fast-paced days, supports staff through challenges, and steps in during moments that require extra care or wisdom.
For campers, the impact is often unseen but deeply felt: consistent routines, safe environments, responsive adults, and a camp experience where they belong. For staff, the Camp Manager is a source of clarity, encouragement, and trust — helping them grow in confidence, leadership, and faith.
Ultimately, this role matters because it creates the conditions for transformation. When operations are strong and people are supported, space is made for joy, learning, creativity, and spiritual growth to flourish.
